Mangrove Jack the Flavour of the Month at Tin Can Bay

Despite the storms last weekend was a cracker for the majority of the time which saw plenty of people taking advantage and hitting the water.

Yet again it was mangrove jack that was the flavour of the month with several reports of good fish being caught with the best going 60cm caught by one very happy Rainbow Beach local.

Whiting, flathead, bream and cod are also being caught throughout Tin Can Inlet and the Great Sandy Straits with areas such as Pelican Bay, Carlo and Teebar creeks all worth a crack. Beach conditions between Rainbow Beach and Double Island Point are pretty good at present however you should still be careful and only travel a couple of hours either side of the low tide.

Looking at the forecast for the weekend it looks like we are in store for some more rain with current predictions of 25-50mm falling on Saturday.  With temps expected to hit 30 degrees storms are likely to occur.  Saturday is looking to be the pick of the days with Northerly winds around 5-10 knots with the lighter winds being around early morning.  Sunday expect to see the wind swing around to the south east approx 10-15knots.

With only 6 weeks until Christmas now is the time to start getting your Christmas shopping knocked over.  Avoid the crowds this year and shop locally.  We have a heap of great gift ideas in store at very competitive prices.  Can make it to the store?  We even post out phone orders.  Don’t forget to ask about our take home layby plan.  Take that new rod and reel combo home today with only 20% deposit and pay off the balance over the next 2, 3 or 4 months.

Until next week stay safe on the water.
