We have had a good week on the Gold Coast for getting out and about, the light winds last weekend made fishing all areas of the Broadwater and the Pin enjoyable.
Mud Crabs have been quite active this week with reports of good numbers of quality crabs being caught.
We did have a full moon last week which normally make the crabs more active, the edges of the main channels around Tipplers and the Never Fails Islands have been crabbing well, we have also had reports of crabs being caught in Cobby Passage, Canaipa Passage, Tiger Mullet Channel, Russell Island around Browns Bay, Logan River and Eden Island.
Some nice sized Sand Crabs have also been captured in the same pots and the Muddies.
We have had reports of a few Prawns staring showing up in Canaipa Passage, Power Lines, Russell Island and the Logan River, still a bit hit and miss at this stage, if you can find a patch some customers have been catching their bag limit of one 10 litre bucket per person, others are doing it a bit tough, hopefully as the season progresses the numbers of Prawns will start to improve.
Some nice Whiting have been caught in the North Arm of the Coomera River, Currigee, Marine Stadium, Paradise Point, Jacobs Well and the Bedrooms, Worms and Yabbies are great bait.
Our customers have been catching a feed of Bream & Flathead around Wave Break Island, Brown Island, Coomera River, Dux, Jacobs Well, Short Island and through Canaipa Passage. The mangrove lined banks are holding some nice Bream and try the edges of the Sandbanks on the run out tide for a Flathead.
Try using Yabbies, Prawns, White Pilchards, Mullet Fillet and WA Pilchards cubes.
Some quality Trevally, School Jew and the odd Squire have been landed in the Gold Coast Seaway Entrance this week, the incoming tide has fished the best with the clean water, live baits or soft plastics have both worked well, if you can plan your trip for the last 2 hours of the tide fishing can be easier as the water flow slows.
The South Easterly winds will be stronger over the weekend I recommend you find a spot out of the wind and enjoy a fish, the wind should drop off Monday and early next week.
If you have any great catches to report or fishing photos please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
Good luck with the Fishing.
