Gold Coast Seaway Producing Quality Fish

It seems like so long since we’ve had light winds on the Gold Coast but this week has been good because both the swell and wind have eased, giving us fishos a chance to get out and have some fun. Fishing the Gold Coast Seaway has been productive this week with some nice Jewfish, Yellow Tail Kingfish, Trevally, Squire and Bream being caught off the pipeline. Mangrove Jack have also been caught around the point of the North wall, also a few Tailor have been hitting metal lures thrown into the wash in the same area.

The Pin Bar entrance has seen some Jew Fish and Trevally action during the week with some nice fish hitting large Soft Plastics, Vibes and live baits drifted through the general area on the North side of the entrance and along Kalinga Bank. I haven’t heard of much offshore action this week but if anyone manages to get out over the weekend you’re more than welcome to let us know how you go?

Customers have found a few Flathead biting during the week, size has varied from undersized fish to good eating size 55cm fish and also a few larger specimens. Keep in mind the legal size limit of a Dusky Flathead is between 40cm to 75cm with a bag limit of 5 fish. Try fishing the edges of sandbanks, drop-offs and river mouths especially on the run out tide. As bait moves off the banks and out of the creeks the Flathead will be waiting to nail your bait. Some spots to try are North arm of the Coomera River, Brown Island, Crab Island Middle Banks, Wave Break Island, The Never fail Islands, Jacobs Well, Tiger Mullet Channel, Logan River and Canaipa Passage. Yabbies, White Pilchards, Prawns and Mullet Fillet drifted will work. Casting Plastics or trolling hard body lures is also a great and popular method to work an area.

Some nice Whiting and Bream have been caught throughout the Broadwater and Jumpinpin area. Yabbies and Worms are great bait.
At the time of writing my report it looks like we will see light to moderate South to South Easterly winds and the change of a light shower over the weekend and also the same forecast extending into next week.

If you have any great catches to report or fishing photos please email them to brett@coomerahouseboats.com.au Good luck with the Fishing.
