Hi Everyone, hope you’ve all had a great week, after a cracking weekend and warm start to the week on the Tweed and Gold Coasts we have some cool winter westerlies on the way.  Let’s have a look at some options for the weekend.

Great conditions last weekend saw plenty of Fisho’s head offshore and try their luck at catching a feed of reef fish.  Paul (see photo in report) has been scoring some fantastic quality Snapper hunting the 36 fathom line east of the Gold Coast Seaway.  Customers have reported mixed quality catches of Snapper from this area, lots of different sized Snapper from undersized rats to big trophies are being caught. You will need to move around until you find some quality fish, just keep an eye on the sounder for life.  Out wider the current has been a bit stronger on the 50 fathoms line, fishos have been landing some nice catches of Snapper, Pearl Perch and mixed Reef fish.  Once the wind eases next week will be worth a look.

With strong cool Westerly winds on the way for the weekend fishing the surf beaches is a good option on the Tweed and Gold Coast.  Cool nights should get the Tailor active in the beach gutters, whole WA pilchards on a set on ganged 3/0 or 4/0 hooks rigged on either mono or wire trace depending on how the fish are biting.  Bream, Tarwhine and Jewfish are all great species you may come across when beach fishing, Worms, Pipies, Strips of Mullet Fillet or Yabbies all make good bait options.

Jumpinpin will be a great option for keen Bream fisho’s, our customers on Coomera Houseboats did well this week scoring some quality winter fish.  Looking at the westerly winds Short Island, western end of Tiger Mullet Channel, Neverfail Islands, Jacobs Well, Cabbage Tree Point and Little Rocky Point should give you some shelter and produce a feed.

Smithy from Brad Smith Fishing Charters reports on the Tweed well everyone this amazing run of great weather continues to flow as are some consistent catches on my Tweed river charters.  Some of the deep holes in the river have an abundance of bait holding in them at present which is perfect for deep water jigging with vibes.  The vibes are a perfect match for the baitfish which is small fish the likes of juvenile herring.  Ecogear VX40 vibes and Strike Pro cyber vibes are doing the trick on the Flathead, Bream and small Jew Fish feeding on the bait in these holes.  Trolling the edges of the channels on the run out tide with Pontoon 21 crackjacks and Ecogear SX48 minnows are producing Flathead and the odd thumper Tailor.

Clint form the Gold Coast reports fresh starts and sunny days have dominated this week on our Gold Coast estuary charters, with not much possibility of rain on the horizon in coming days.  We may have some cloudy days which can provide good fishing, the fish seem to feed more aggressively in such conditions.  This coming week sees some very large night time tides around the dark new moon, too much run really for fish to feed comfortably.  All this should mean some productive day time fishing!  The water generally is very clear at the moment, and the Nerang river is lacking bait. I’d suggest the best areas to chase Flathead are around Rat Island, the Aldershots, Tipplers Passage. If you’re chasing squid there are still plenty around Seaworld, Lands End, and Currigee.  The winter Whiting are getting bigger and thicker too, we have still been catching some solid sand Whiting up the river on bait, a few 45-55cm Flathead, plus some bigger Bream.

Hope you all have a good weekend and get out for a fish, if you have any great catches or photos you would like to share, please email us and let us know how you went.
