Easy targets on offer around Wellington Point area

Dale with a bream.
A hungry tuskfish.

Land based: fishing off the banks or jetties is slowly getting better. With bream and snapper in pre-spawn they will be hungry! Best thing to do during pre-spawn times is to fish natural. Use baits that the fish are feeding on at the time. Light to no weight has shown the best results locally. Fish the structures whether they be man made or natural. Fishing the top of the tide is always an advantage but not always necessary

Kayak: snapper, sweetlips and bream have been very easy to target of late around the Ormiston wellington point area. Fishing between 1.5-3m has been the mark to find to catch these fish. Find some weed beds and reef for best results. Lures like the atomic 38 crank deep and zman grubs have had great results for those who like to fish shallow

Boat: chain banks have been firing of late! Small bits of squid has been bait of choice for the whiting. Always have a jig out the back for squid. Some have seen 30+ hit the deck in short sessions when they are there

Peel has had some big snapper roaming around the western side reefs. Fresh cuttlefish and squid seems to get them on the chew

Moreton: around the top side has seen some great tuskfish and snapper caught. BIG baits are the key here and working through smaller fish seems to be the challenge. Rest assured there are big fish there you just need to put the time in for a big reward.
