Coomera crabs and fish on the chew

The wind has been hanging around again this week moving from stronger SE to N/NW during the week offering just a few windows in between to get on the water.

Finding a few spots out of the wind and chasing a Mangrove Jack and Estuary Cod has been a good option this week, we have had reports of a few nice Jacks being caught up the Coomera river at the Highway Bridge, Railway Bridge, Rock Bar at the Highway Boat Ramp, in around the jetties at Riviera, Gold Coast City Marina and through the South Arm along the Sanctuary Cove stretch through to Hope Harbour all fishing well.
Customers have had success casting Zman plastics in 3 & 4 inch White being the favourite colour, trolling hard bodies tight against the structure has also done the job just remember to head for the middle of the river when you hook up and have plenty of drag set on the reel.

The Seaway continues to fish well this week for Jewfish and Trevally on the incoming tide, some nice sized fish are being caught, some Jew have been around the 15 kg mark putting up a great fight, live bait has been working well. Mullet, Pike or Herring are a favourite.
Our Customers have been catching a feed of Bream & Whiting around the Bedrooms, Tipplers Passage, Logan River, Jacobs Well, Tiger Mullet Channel, North Arm Coomera, Crab Island, Wave Break Island, Paradise Point and Marine Stadium. Yabbies, Prawns and worms are a good choice.

If you are heading out for a fish I’d recommend to take a couple of crab pots as we have seen some nice Mud Crabs and a few good Sandies being caught around the Pin and Broadwater region this week. Canaipa Passage near Cobby, Logan River, Tiger Mullet Channel, Eden Island, Jacobs Well, Never Fail Islands, Tipplers Passage and the Coomera River are all crabbing well.

I’m looking forward to fishing the Pirtek Fishing Challenge this weekend it’s Australia’s biggest fishing comp and a great family event the kids love, the event raises money for men’s cancer research, I will let you know how we go next week.

The Surfers Paradise Game & Sport Fish Club is running their annual all tackle all species tournament this weekend, it’s good to see lighter winds on the way, good luck to all the crews fishing.

We will see the wind ease and tend N/NE on Saturday and NE light to moderate on Sunday with just the odd shower about.

If you have any great catches to report or fishing photos please email them to brett@coomerahouseboats.com.au
Good luck with the Fishing.
