Kids enjoy school holiday fishing fun at Noosa

The Noosa River has again come up with the good over the school holidays, good numbers of tailor have been taken at the top of the tide around the river mouth.

The tailor will be chasing bait as it makes its way into the river, small shad style soft plastic cast out with a fast retrieve has been working when the fish are on the bite.

For those with a boat, a drift from the mouth upstream has seen some great Bream, Whiting and Flathead. Shallow diving hard body lures have worked a treat with the EcoGear SX 40 a real favourite.

For the anglers that prefer bait fresh Mullet strips and live bloodworms the bait of choice.

Good quality trevally have again been on the bite with big gulden’s and nice giant trevally at first light in first Woods Bay.

Also at top and bottom of the tide around the current line just outside woods bay.

Surface lures and 3-4inch slim profile plastics like the gastronomic shad tails doing the job.

Gympie terrace has seen some nice bream taken around the jetties and nice whiting near the caravan park at Munna Point.

Flathead and Jew have been taken in the deeper channel at the first ski run using Live Baits and Fresh Mullet strips.

Offshore we have seen some good pearlies from the middle reefs like North and Chardon’s.

There have also been some quality snapper amongst them, with a few bigger knobbies starting to be seen.

Good sized squire in good numbers around Sunshine and the closer reefs.

Soft plastics like the Gulp Nuclear chicken or the Zman Coconut Ice fished hard to the reef have been working extremely well.

There have also been some quality Jewfish in good numbers on North and Chardon’s Reef.

The odd pelagic still about with the northern reefs the most productive.

On the beaches Noosa’s North shore has fished extremely well with some extra-large bream in the gutters around the top of the tide.

Nice tailor and Flathead are also sharing the same gutters.

There has also been a plague of dart spread right along the beach.

Good fun for the kids on school holidays.
