Incredible Kawana fishing on all fronts

Hi there anglers,

This week has been nothing short of incredible as we come to the end of the first week of the school holidays here on the Sunshine Coast the reports of good times and great fishing have been coming in thick and fast from all over the place with what looks to be another amazing week of beautiful weather on its way!

Caloundra 9 mile has been producing some quality Cobia and Grass Sweetlip and reports are coming in of Northern Barwon Banks are still turning up good bags of mixed Reef fish including  Tuskfish , Moses Perch,  Morwong and Sweetlip.

The Gneerings and Murphys have been another great spot and it still seems berley is the key to catch some great fish off the bottom with some nice snapper falling to live baits and small 2/0 ganged pilchards. There is still some squid off the headland and any artificial light at night from your boat will aid in catching at night. I always leave a squid jig out when I’m out there just in case one comes along as they are a great bonus to any catch.

Land based anglers have been pleasantly surprised with great catches of solid 30-40cm bream everywhere it seems at the moment with reports constantly coming of families getting out in this great weather and having a great time catching these wonderful fish, there have also been rumors of Tailor, Flathead and schools of gar in the “Basin” at the base of the Mooloolaba rock wall, and the Jewfish  are about with reports coming in that there have been a few taken on soft plastics and mullet fillets in the Mooloolah River and the “Codhole” in the Maroochy River

The Buddina Beaches have been turning up a few Bream and Dart to the fisherman with a keen eye for picking the gutters (deeper water) which are still a little hard to spot as they are not very deep and obvious at the moment . With the swell low and the westerly breeze over you back it sure does make for a great location to catch some nice fish.
