October 16 is National Gone Fishing Day – make your rod count!

RIGHT across Australia, the momentum and support for Gone Fishing Day 2016 is building and we can’t wait to start counting everyone’s rods on Sunday, October 16.

It doesn’t matter where you live, whether you fish or haven’t before, we hope to see Australia’s lakes, rivers, dams and coastline breamin’ with rods! Gone Fishing Day is the first of its kind where we can come together and celebrate our proud recreational fishing community – and a pastime that is part of our nation’s heritage.

There are so many reasons why we fish. Whether it’s to relax, look after our health, spend time with family and friends or to connect with the natural environment… one thing is certain, more Australians should pick up a rod and give it a go.

So, mark your calendar, grab your rod, register your participation on the website and make it count on October 16 for Gone Fishing Day.
