Fish and crabs aplenty on Gold Coast

It’s great to see lots of Houseboats out this week chasing a feed of fish and crabs. We have seen a mixture of sunshine, cloud and a few showers on the gold Coast this week, a bit more rain on the forecast should get the mud crabs on the move.

With a bit more rain on the forecast and the New Moon on the way chasing a feed of Mud Crabs would be a great option over the weekend on the Gold Coast. A bit of fresh water should give the creeks a flush out and get the fish and crabs, especially the muddies, on the move. Our customers scored a feed during the week from the Coomera River, Pimpama River, The Never Fails, Brown Island, Aldershots, Jacobs Well, Tiger Mullet Channel, Eden Island and the Logan River.

Jumpinpin has been fishing quite well this week producing some quality catches. Drifting the Bar entrance with live baits like Herring, Pike, Winter Whiting or Mullet has worked well on large Flathead, Jew Fish, Tailor and Trevally. If you can’t catch live bait then WA Pilchards, Large Whole Squid or Mullet Fillet will work. The Gold Coast Seaway has also been producing some good catches of Jew Fish off the pipe line. Large Plastics and Zerek Fish Trap soft Vibes have been accounting for some top quality fish as well.

Our Houseboat customers caught some good sized Whiting and Bream off the sandbanks east of Cobby Passage this week, also the Logan River, Western end of Tiger Mullet Channel, Green Bank, Gold Bank,  Jacobs Well, Bedrooms, Coomera River North and South Arms, Pimpama River and Crab Island are worth a look.  Yabbies and Worms are great bait.

Locals have managed to put a few runs on the board chasing Mangrove Jack last weekend and during the week. Depending on how much SE we get and how the cooler weather affects the bite we should see some Mangrove Jack action on offer if you’re keen to put in the time.

Hope you all have a good weekend and get out for a fish, if you have any reports please let us know how you went.

At the time of writing my report we will see lighter wind on Saturday from the NE before tending SE on Sunday and increasing as the week goes on. Saturday looks like the pick of the days, we will also see a bit of rain on the forecast. Make sure you have the most up to date forecast before heading out on the water.
