Broadwater, Jumpinpin and rivers worth fishing

We’ve had a bit of everything weather wise on the Gold Coast this week, extreme heat, wind and a big swell running offshore.  The Broadwater, Jumpinpin and Rivers have been the go to find a feed.

Customers did well finding a few spots out of the wind and getting stuck into some good sized Flathead this week around Jumpinpin.  The water quality has been a bit dirty after the Northerly winds, the Southerly change has cleaned up the system a bit with some good shows of bait around. Flathead have been hooked in both deep and shallow water, try the tops of sandbanks on high tide and then fish the edges as the tide and bait fish push off the banks on the run out tide.  Zman Soft plastics and Zerek Tango Shads have been working well.  For the bait fishos White Pilchards, WA Pilchards, Prawns, Mullet Fillet and Yabbies will do the job.  Spots worth a look are Tiger Mullet Channel, McKenzies Channel, Crusoe Island, Bedrooms, Mouth of Cobby Passage and Jacobs Well. Down South Wave Break Island, Crab Island, Currigee, Brown Island, North Arm of the Coomera and Tipplers Passage.

We had just enough rain to get some nice Mud Crabs on the move the last couple of weeks, staff member Kel has been doing well catching a nice feed in the Coomera River this week.  The larger tides at the end of last week around the full moon also helped to flush out some good quality Mud Crabs.  Houseboat customers scored a great feed in the Pimpama River, other good spots to try your luck are The Never Fails, Jacobs Well, Tipplers Passage, Brown Island, Cabbage Tree Point, Coomera River.

Friday and Saturday are looking ok for trying your luck offshore before we see the Northerly winds kick in again Sunday.  Bottom fishing for a Snapper, Moses, Parrot, Trag or Jew will be an option depending on the current.  Hopefully the Southerly wind during the week has pushed in some clean water onto the shallow reefs also bring the Spotty and Spanish Mackerel with it.
