Round 2 Basstasstic X-Factor Teams Comp at Borumba

ANGLERS travelled to Borumba Dam to fish Round 2 Basstasstic X-Factor Teams Comp.

I say this a lot but it is so true: if you have not fished this event, you are missing out on something special. You need to take the time to fish this event to see why. Borumba is a lovely dam and the surrounds are very pretty.

Anglers stayed at the nearby deer park. The conditions on the first day were not good, with wind and a cold change, and all anglers knew it would be hard going. On the Friday night, all teams are matched up to fish on day one.

The winning teams on day one go into the cash pool and the other teams go into the prize pool. Results are determined by your team’s best two bass, and you get all day and two sessions in which to catch these fish. Put simply, all teams get to stay involved in this two-day event.

The rewards in the cash section depend on the number of teams that turn up. The more teams, the more cash. Some great prizes can be won in the prize section.  Anglers felt that in the Borumba round the teams were matched well for the fight out on the water.

Only the fish decided to make it hard. It was a great outing and all teams enjoyed the fishing no matter the weather. Congratulations to team Bass Cat comprising Mick Thompson of Stanthorpe and Leroy Finch of Dalby for winning the cash section with 733 points.

Mick and Leroy won $1000 cash for their efforts. Winning the prize section was team One Agenda. Gary McCabe of Mount Tamborine and Wayne Blundell of the Gold Coast scored 768 points and went home with two Evakool Icemate 48-litre iceboxes.

The next round will be held at Cania Dam on August 27 and 28. All anglers have to do is fish one round to qualify for the grand final on December 3 and 4.
